My first solo 24hr
Mountain Bike Race

Big weekend here down in Monterey, California for me. After a great day of travel, serious actually (smooth through the border, good catch up with Eric and Tracey, no fee for flying my bike, flight on time, cheaper car rental than expected but not with friendly people at Budget, and a great sunny drive for 1hr down to Monterey from San Jose) we are here, building bikes and food shopping.

The race gets underway tomorrow at 12pm. The race course is all through Laguna Seca - awesome riding, hilly and lots of single track. It's not scorching hot so it should be good riding. So, for the next 24hrs, I will be doing as many laps as I can of the 15km race course. How many I do will depend on 1) how I am feeling and 2) what my competition is doing.

I am really really excited to finally tackle a 24hr MTB race. After doing my first 24hr ski mountaineering race in February, I knew that I had to throw another in the mix. In addition, this is all just time on the bike and good training for Intermontane at the end of July!!!

So, ride on.......
FOLLOW the race LIVE as of Saturday 12pm until Sunday 12pm - lap times and rankings etc will all be posted on the race website.

Wish me a tough ass that can sit on the seat for a long long, very long time!!!!

PS - Cyril is also racing so it will be good to have another team mate out there. Norm is crewing which is awesome (despite his shoulder) and we have Jackie on hand too, ready to rock the pit. Wicked!!!!
